Hats at the ready - it's Melbourne Cup Day!

Tuesday 6 November 2007

The Melbourne Cup is back. Enjoy all the pomp and ceremony of the big day at Ellerslie RaceCourse - a fun day out you won't forget in a hurry.

All you need to do now is twist your Bank Manager's arm for a few notes and see if you can predict who will win this year's race. Easy!

Racing has always been a big part of the sporting calendar - but these days it could so easily be about the fashion!

However, in the first ever race, a trophy wasn't awarded to the winner - how times have changed. Last year's Trophy was valued at over $80,000. These days, it looks like many people have spent around that on their outfits to head off to the Ellerslie Racecourse event.

But it's also about the racing - this year, there will 10 races live from Fremington for those who can't hop across the ditch. It all leads up to the big race at 5pm which organisers hope the recent outbreak of Equine Flu will do little to impact on.

So the day is set to be a big winner with the TAB benefitting and no doubt office sweeps up and down the country - however, all eyes will be on what those off the field are wearing. Our fashion judges will be roaming all areas, quietly evaluating those with creativity and flair, and finally selecting the day's best dressed man and woman. Both will win a $2,500 Westfield Newmarket shopping spree as well as qualify directly to the final of the Mercedes Prix de Fashion in March with the chance to win a $100,000 prize package!

Good luck betting on the winners - both on and off the field!
