With three weeks to go, Vodafone Homegrown has sold out!
A last minute rush on the Kiwi Music Festival tickets saw the last of the 14,000 tickets sold on Friday night.
Organiser Mark Wright is delighted with the response and sees it as a testament to the strength of New Zealand music.
Wright also explained their decision to limit tickets and not issue any gate sales; “The number has been dictated by legal capacity in the venues as well as our desire to give people the best chance to see the bands they want to see.
We have actually sold 1,500 less tickets than our maximum capacity to try and make sure everybody can see the acts they want to.
With it being the first year it’s a bit of an unknown as to how many are Rock fans versus Dub versus Dance or Indie fans, so we’ve taken a conservative approach, not jamming people in for the sake of a few extra dollars”.
