Rossini’s beloved comic opera, The Italian Girl in Algiers, returns to stages in Wellington and Auckland after an absence of more than 20 years. This is opera at its finest, a fun story, great music and fabuous costumes...plus projected subtitles so we can understand what's going on!
Set in sizzling Algiers – a heady hotbed of polygamy, piracy and plotting, The Italian Girl in Algiers is a spicy brew in which many forces are at work – the battle of the sexes and the clash of cultures just for starters, resulting in a fast-moving comedy of errors with more impossible plot twists than a soap opera.
We are pleased to have two pairs of tickets to the 28 May Auckland performance of The Italian Girl in Algiers for a ticket competition. To be in to win, tell us what you find amusing or fun about the battle of the sexes. Put your ideas in the Comments section of the Auckland event page and we'll pick the spiciest winners to be off to the show.
