Hot on the heels of their two, triumphant, sell-out Auckland concerts just under two weeks ago at the Powerstation and Vector Arena, Pixies - Black Francis, Kim Deal, Joey Santiago and David Lovering – announce they will return to New Zealand this August for one very special concert, in Christchurch.
Following their resounding North Island reception The Pixies acknowledged a visit to the Mainland was mandatory. After the Christchurch concert, Pixies will headline at the Summersonic Festival in Japan.
On their first ever visit to New Zealand this month, Pixies enthralled their devotees with a two hour set that celebrated the 20th Anniversary of the seminal Doolittle album, featuring legendary tracks such as Debaser, Here Comes Your Man and Hey, plus a raft of B sides and more obscure numbers from their catalogue (“so obscure”, joked Kim Deal, “we had to learn how to play them all over again”).
In Christchurch, Pixies will perform an assortment of songs drawing from their vast catalogue.
Tuesday 3 August at Westpac Arena. Tickets on sale 29 March.
