After a decade of being at the forefront of Matakana’s cultural renaissance, Ascension Wine Estate is hosting a Labour Weekend birthday party that is sure to go off with a bang – and everyone’s invited.
The Big Night Out, to be held on Sunday, October 24, opens at 3.30pm with live music from 4:00pm, the all-time classic film Casablanca showing on the massive outdoor cinema screen from 8:00pm and a fireworks experience to savour from 10:00pm.
In keeping with the best traditions of Ascension Wine Estate, organisers have selected a broad range of sparkling musical talents for the birthday celebration, including Auckland blues and rock band, The Groove Diggers, Alt-country rock artist, and former New Zealand Music Award finalist James RAy, talented local singer songwriter Lou Lou & The Late Show.
The Big Night Out – a celebration of just how far Matakana and Ascension Wine Estate has come over the last decade – is sure to be an unqualified success, but as Darryl Soljan, the Captain and Navigator of Ascension points out, no one ever intended Ascension Wine Estate to become such a focal point for the region.
“The Big Night Out is our way of saying thanks to everyone who has supported us, paid us a visit, enjoyed our wine, or simply stopped in to enjoy a show. We can’t wait to see the place buzzing on Labour Weekend Sunday.”
Tickets for The Big Night Out go on sale from Monday September 13. More information here.
