In a tour that promises to be bigger than Boxing Day on the southern motorway, Australasia’s foremost rock singer Jimmy Barnes returns to the beaches for his annual summer tour…bring it on!
It's 100% confirmed. Jimmy Barnes loves New Zealand.
Why else would he and his family spend Christmas/New Year in New Zealand as he has for the last 5 years?
"I keep running into all these Kiwis in Australia and wonder what the hell they are doing there - New Zealand is paradise!," says Jimmy.
"I've brought in the New Year here 8 times now!"
Jimmy has spent the better half of 2012 exploring new ventures in music. He is currently lecturing at Berklee College in Boston (the largest college of contemporary music in the world) and has been teaching students Australian Rock and live performance, as well as taking classes in Guitar Techniques in Songwriting; Poetry and Lyric; Pro-Tools; and Spanish 1.
Jimmy Barnes is the true professional rock & roll lead singer - he's been through it all, seen it all and still thrives on it. Actually he loves it!
Having the phenomenal catalogue of solo hits and Cold Chisel Classics that make up his live set, it’s a hell of a basis for a show - and that's just what he will give us this summer when the Jimmy juggernaut fires up for his first show on December 27 at Mangawhai in Northland.
Professionalism, great songs, a strong rock & roll heart and healthy knowledge of classic rock & soul is what Jimmy has in common with special guest on the tour Gin Wigmore.
"It shall be a summer of good old rock n roll! I look forward to seeing Jimmy Barnes in action and take a few tips from a true master of music," says Gin.
The award winning songstress currently stars alongside James Bond in a new TV and digital ad campaign for Heineken and the latest 007 film, Skyfall, which opens in cinemas later this year.
Gin’s single “Man Like That”, from her 2x platinum selling second album, Gravel & Wine, was chosen as the ad's theme. Gin stars in the action packed ad alongside Bond star Daniel Craig and the latest Bond girl Bérénice Marlohe.
Gin is nominated for four awards at this year’s Vodafone New Zealand Music Awards, including Single of the year, Best Female Solo Artist, The Edge Best Pop Album & the Vodafone People’s Choice Award.
Rounding out the bill is the Thomas Oliver Band from Wellington. The Thomas Oliver Band, affectionately known by fans as The T.O.B., have taken modern rock by the collar and shaken the soul back into it.
The T.O.B. seamlessly fuse genres and bend the rules, blending grinding blues beats with clean folk melodies, and slip solid rock into big-chorused country/roots ballads. The band owes its distinct sound to a combination of strong instrumentation including lap-slide guitar and baritone sax.
Boasting a big onstage presence, The T.O.B. have spent the last few years touring the country and supporting the likes of Joe Cocker, Cold Chisel, Fat Freddy's Drop and Gin Wigmore.
Together, along with rock icon Jimmy Barnes and Gin Wigmore this is one Red Hot Summer Tour made in heaven! See Jimmy, Gin and The T.O.B live this December.
Tickets on sale Monday 29th October from venues and Ticketmaster.
