Akon, T.I. & French Montana 'Episode One' Announced

Planetroc is thrilled to announce Episode One, an inaugural urban music show featuring performances from chart toppers Akon, and T.I. plus support from New Yorker French Montana in Auckland.

Multi-platinum recording artist and producer Akon has made a staggering 300 guest appearances for icons including Michael Jackson, Lady Gaga, Gwen Stefani, Whitney Houston, R. Kelly, Nelly and Eminem.  He’s sold 12 million albums and has 45 Billboard Hot 100 songs, including the number one singles, Lonely, Don’t Matter, Smack That (featuring Eminem) and I Wanna Love You (featuring Snoop Dogg), plus he holds the Guinness Book of World Records as the number one selling artist for master ringtones in the world!

Akon was the visionary behind two thriving record labels - KonLive and Konvict – that jump-started the careers of both Lady Gaga and T-Pain and has featured on Kiwi hit singles with New Zealand’s own Savage (Moonshine) and P Money (Keep On Callin’). As a Senegalese American, Akon is fifth on the Most Powerful Celebrities in Africa list, is one of the most influential figures in hip-hop and R&B and is the creator of The Konfidence Foundation - a youth-centric charity that benefits underserved children in Africa and the US.

After years of anticipation, T.I. is coming to New Zealand for the very first time. Also known as T.I.P. and Rubberband Man, T.I. established himself as one of rap's greatest and most successful MCs. He has released eight studio albums with his most recent, Trouble Man: Heavy Is the Head, his hottest seller. He has had countless hits including, Whatever You Like, Big Things Poppin' (Do It), Live Your Life (featuring Rihanna), Swagga Like Us (featuring Kanye West, Jay-Z and Lil  Wayne), Dead and Gone (featuring  Justin Timberlake) and features on the current smash hit Blurred Lines with Robin Thicke. He has won three Grammy Awards, has had roles in movies such as American Gangster (2007 alongside Denzel Washington), Takers and Identity Thief and Pharrell Williams dubbed him ‘the Jay-Z of the South’!

Moroccan born French Montana is the hottest rapper on the streets of New York right now. French is known for his collaborations with Max B, and more recently with Rick Ross and his group Coke Boys. His highly anticipated official debut album is currently being produced by Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs.
