PRESS RELEASE:
ScHoolboy Q returns to New Zealand for Encore Tour
ScHoolboy Q is Man of the Year. The acclaimed Top Dawg Entertainment (TDE) artist can't stay away from New Zealand. Following two epic shows in June amidst a tide of international hype, ScHoolboy Q is back to offer a second helping of sharp-shooting hip-hop to New Zealand fans. Attendees of his sold out show at James Cabaret were witness to the truth – ScHoolboy is the hottest name in hip hop. Famed for his outspoken wit, ScHoolboy Q is at the top of his game, and is set to bring his quick-spitting jams back to New Zealand for three exclusive shows in Christchurch, Wellington and Dunedin, following a massive summer tour of the US with The Weeknd and Jhene Aiko.
A rich kid of military parents gone to the streets (ScHoolboy earned his name from the high-brow schools he attended), Quincy Matthew Hanley has seen it all, from college sports to drug-slanging and jail-time. His colourful history now takes its place at the tip of the hip hop charts, with his debut Top Dawg Entertainment / Interscope Records album Oxymoron opening at number 1 on the Billboard 200.
Guesting verses for hip-hop heavyweights Kendrick Lamar, A$AP Rocky, 2Chainz and acclaimed producer The Alchemist, ScHoolboy the biggest voice in the biz – rapping about everything from cars and clothes, women and weed to childhood and lofty ambitions, with his unique LA style (by way of Texas), reminiscent of Biggie, Nas, and 50 Cent.
He's become an instant classic – with the popularity and gritty smarts most rappers don't achieve until much later in their career.
If you were at the last shows, you'll know exactly what to do. If you missed it – don't make the same mistake again. ScHoolboy Q's rhymes are world class, and he's coming back to spit them just for us.
