National Geographic declared Meta & The Cornerstones “the future of reggae music” and the accolade is well-deserved. Their warm and addictive sound dynamically fuses reggae with Afro-pop, hip-hop, rock and soul and is winning them legions of new fans around the world.
The band hit New Zealand in December to play at Rhythm & Vines, Rhythm & Alps and as the main support for Fat Freddy’s Drop in Rotorua on 2nd January.
“Meta and the Cornerstones were a big hit, giving Rotorua a taste of a top international sound” Rotorua Daily Post, 3 Jan 2015
“Meta & The Cornerstones pumped up the mid-evening crowd with an energetic performance” Rotorua Daily Post, 5 Jan 2015
Unfortunately their next scheduled stop in Samoa was cancelled at the last minute, leaving the band in Auckland without accommodation. The New Zealand music community and fans have rallied round to assist the band, finding them accommodation and a couple of last minute shows to fill the gap in their itinerary.
Meta & The Cornerstones will play the Kings Arms in Newton tonight and the Piha Bowling Club on Saturday night. There will be a small door charge at each venue to assist with costs.
Don’t miss the opportunity to see this phenomenal band in some special intimate gigs. Both shows will be semi-acoustic and support artists are Lisa Wright and The Elected, Silva MC and DJ Locksteady.
The band wish to thank the fans and local musicians, venues and suppliers for showing the love, they will return this in the way they know best, by sharing their music. Please spread the word.
