Post-punk legends The Fall are returning to New Zealand for two shows in October.
Centred around the enigmatic frontman Mark E. Smith, The Fall is touring in support of Sub-Lingual Tablet, the band's 31st album in its 39-year history. As the band's founder and only original member, Smith is The Fall's steady force, while the evolving lineup has helped their sound to always be "fresh, vital and energised". As BBC broadcaster John Peel said, the band is "always different, always the same".
The current band, made up of Peter Greenway (lead guitar), Keiron Melling (drums), Elena Poulou (keyboards, vocals), Mark E. Smith (vocals) and David Spurr (bass) is The Fall's longest serving lineup in the band's history.
The Fall was last in New Zealand in 2010 - their first New Zealand performance in 30 years. A NZ Herald reviewer said that gig showed that The Fall "prove themselves one of those bands to see before you die".
