Community Extravaganza With Block Party At The Queens Wharf

Queens Wharf on Auckland’s waterfront comes to life this April with Block Party - a community extravaganza of music, art and interactive workshops for all of Auckland to enjoy.

Inspired by community congregations on New York’s east side in the 1970s, Queens Wharf plays host to this unique waterfront festival, taking place between 12 and 6pm on Sunday 8 May. Amidst a plethora of creative art and displays, cypher workshops and battles, zines, break dancing, games, vintage and handmade goods, and scrumptious food stalls, you’ll find no shortage of interest and entertainment.

A fresh stream of live music from up-and-coming Auckland and Wellington artists will have bodies moving all afternoon long, with Terracotta Cat, Bailey Wiley, Womb, Randa, and Trip Pony. A special guest MC will see the creative potential for every moment fulfilled.

Art throughout the event will be shown by Lane Park, Sofia Drescher, Connie McDonald, Georgette Brown, Random, Erika Pearce, Jonny4Higher, Chris Hutchison and Courtney Fort Davis.

With more surprises yet to come, Block Party is nothing short of fantastic - a free community afternoon for all ages, celebrating brilliant creative art, music and more coming from some of Aotearoa’s most interesting minds.

Lying at the foot of the Auckland CBD, Queens Wharf offers a unique vantage point overlooking the sparkling Waitemata Harbour. Home to two of Auckland’s signature buildings, Shed 10 and The Cloud, Queens Wharf has been transformed from a private working wharf to a public waterfront space for all to enjoy.
