Taking off from the 'City of Angels' is international pop songstress Jhené Aiko, who's about to set foot on Kiwi soil once again to celebrate her latest album 'Trip'. She will be wowing audiences at Auckland's Logan Campbell Centre this September.
Jhené Aiko's second full-length album 'Trip' is the long-awaited follow-up to her critically acclaimed 2014 debut LP 'Souled Out' which entered the R&B Albums chart at no. 1 upon its release. The album's first single and video 'The Pressure' has more than 11.1 million YouTube views to date.
'Souled Out' took flight on the strength of Aiko's phenomenal no. 1 debut EP 'Sail Out' (2013), the biggest-selling EP in Def Jam history with her sizzling BET Award-winning and Grammy-nominated no. 1 platinum crossover hit 'The Worst', as well as collaborations with Kendrick Lamar, Vince Staples and Childish Gambino for 'Bed Peace'.
"[The album] surges with a lush, aquatic gravitas, distinctly R&B but never confined to genre conventions." - Pitchfork
Aiko already had more than a decade of experience before releasing her chart-topping EP 'Sail Out'. She's been featured on various singles, albums and mixtapes by A-listers Kendrick Lamar, Wale, Logic, J. Cole, Drake and has previously collaborated with multi-platinum artist Big Sean.
"Jhené Aiko transforms heartbreak, tragedy and existential crises into a dreamy escape." - TIME Magazine
Joining the bill is homegrown soul diva Ladi6 who is currently on her 'Outta Time' tour, winding up her massive shows in NZ. Ladi6 recently released the 2017 VNZMA award-winning record 'Royal Blue 3000' and has developed a reputation for being one of the most exciting live acts in New Zealand.
Having joined Drake on his 39-city North American 'Would You Like A Tour?', Aiko now makes it back to the southern hemisphere for this one-off all-ages Kiwi date.
With Grammy nominations up her sleeve and a tonne of support from her legion of fans, Jhené Aiko is one act not to be missed!
