Unknown Mortal Orchestra to blast NZ stages this September

Homegrown psychedelic rock troupe Unknown Mortal Orchestra are on their way to blasting up Kiwi venues with their latest 'Sex & Food' tour this September. The route will see the ensemble perform in Christchurch, Dunedin, Wellington and Auckland.

Following their NZ dates, Unknown Mortal Orchestra will be hitting Australia for their intimate Brisbane performance.

Unknown Mortal Orchestra have announced the addition of the Australian heavy hitting duo DIvide and Dissolve to all New Zealand shows.

"Where are we headed? What are we consuming?", these are some of the questions posed on Unknown Mortal Orchestra's latest fourth studio album. 'Sex & Food' is a delightfully shapeshifting album that filters these real-deal, serious themes through a vibrant sonic lens that spans battered drum-machine funk, doomy and thrashing rock, and pink-hued psychedelic disco. Recorded in a variety of locales from Seoul and Hanoi to Reykjavik and Auckland, Sex & Food is a practical musical travelogue.

Frontman Ruban Nielson has established himself as one of the most inventive sonic travellers over the last decade. Their 'Sex & Food' album is the most eclectic and expansive Unknown Mortal Orchestra release to date. The adventurousness is all the more impressive considering that there's a bit of DNA from the past UMO discography in Sex & Food: the soft-focus psych of the project's 2011 debut LP, the lovely melancholia of 2013's II, and the weirded-out funk of 2015’s virtuosic Multi-Love. Make no mistake, the album reaffirms the vitality of Ruban's voice in today's musical landscape.

Unknown Mortal Orchestra are about to unleash their mind-bending symphonies this September and they're not to be missed!
