After more than 20 long years, R&B royalty and award-winning songstress Gladys Knight—along with her nine-piece band—returns to New Zealand, bringing her much-acclaimed tour to Auckland's The Civic and Christchurch Town Hall this February 2020. Before her NZ dates though, she will first be wrapping up shows happening in Australia. The AU leg begins at Perth's Crown Theatre before heading to Sydney's Sky Terrace - The Star Event Centre, Melbourne's Hamer Hall and Brisbane's Concert Hall - QPAC.
Gladys Knight is a seven-time Grammy Award-winner who boasts over 50 years of experience in songwriting, film and television. Possessing innate musicality that spans pop, gospel and R&B music, she continues to deliver show-stopping performances around the globe. As she entered the music scene in the early '50s, she's released numerous hits to her name. Her breakthrough song 'Every Beat of My Heart' was followed by a string of successful singles before the release of 'Neither One of Us (Wants to be the First to Say Goodbye)'—the album that's seen Knight earn her first Grammy Award. Another Grammy Award came for #1 hit 'Midnight Train to Georgia', before she picked up two more for 'Love Overboard' and her collaboration with Stevie Wonder, Elton John and Dionne Warwick, 'That's What Friends Are For' (another #1 single).
During her spanning career, Knight has earned a great number of accolades including a Grammy Award for her solo work 'License To Kill' ('James Bond' theme), a Golden Globe nomination for her acting work at 1976's 'Pipe Dreams', and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. She's also been inducted into the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame, taken home a BET Lifetime Achievement Award, and was listed as one of Rolling Stone's 100 Greatest Singers of All Time.
Truly one of the legendary musical voices to ever grace our shores, Gladys Knight is one phenomenal act you wouldn't want to miss!
