Dave Dobbyn & Melodownz Joins the Bay of Islands Music Festival

Today, the Bay of Islands Music Festival announced the addition of our favourite Kiwi icon. Dave Dobbyn and smooth hip-hop star, Melodownz. They join a mega line-up that includes pop phenomenon Benee, indie sensations The Beths and the big-ballad songstress Tami Neilson.

Dave Dobbyn's enduring popularity is reinforced with polls of Top 100 songs returning ‘Loyal’ at #1 year on year, and he holds the most Silver Scroll Awards for song-writing. He continues to be the most sought-after artist for festivals across the nation, don’t miss this opportunity to see him in Northland.

Urban poet, Melodownz spits rhymes quicker than his smooth melodies and jumps in and out of reggae, hip hop and soul. With millions of views, collaborations with incredible artists such as Denzel Curry, multiple festival appearances and a successful podcast series, Kava Corner, this Avondale MC is a must-see artist for summer. If you’re not a fan already, you will be.

Dave Dobbyn and Melodownz join a line-up that's packed with NZ heavyweights. Benee is 2020’s breakout pop phenomenon and winner of this year’s APRA Silver Scroll Award for her song Glitter. The smash-hit "Supalonely" has gone on to become one of the most popular songs of 2020, reaching Platinum in the US and many countries around the globe and streams close to 2 billion!

The Beths debut album Future Me Hates Me had irresistible pop-rock hooks that drew acclaim worldwide, including from Rolling Stone who said it was "a power-pop monument" and "excellent summery-pop punk", with the track Happy Unhappy announced as the magazine's ‘Song of the Summer’.

Tami Neilson has a big-ballad voice that belts out country Americana, soul-infused R'n'B, Western swing or good old Rock ’n' Roll. New Zealand has taken this stacked-high beehive chick to their hearts, with multiple NZ Music Awards and hit albums.

The Bay of Island Music Festival has also added the Acoustic Stage, a carefully curated space giving concert-goers the chance to chill between the main acts and experience some of our future song-writing superstars. The festival village will be packed with delicious food trucks, wines and craft beers, as well as plenty of stalls to browse.

The festival takes place on Friday 8 January 2021, set in the stunning location of Kainui Vineyard & Brewery, Kerikeri, Bay of Islands. With the addition of an acoustic stage and festival village, this is going to be our biggest fest yet!

Proudly a family-friendly festival. This year they will have a Kids Zone to entertain the younger fans throughout the day. Children aged 12 years and under are free (one free child per adult) and additional Child tickets are only $25 (available at the gate). Any concert-goers under 18yrs of age MUST be accompanied by an adult.

Remember to pre-book your parking or a bus. Services are available from around the Bay of Islands region including Paihia and Kerikeri. If you want to spend more time in the region, they regularly update details of accommodation packages on the website and Facebook page.
