The 2025 WOMAD Aotearoa festival is set to deliver an unforgettable lineup of global talent, including Jamaican artist Protoje, known for blending hip hop, soul, and jazz with reggae and dancehall, Protoje will perform with his band, The Indiggnation. Also on the bill: Goran Bregović & His Wedding & Funeral Band from Bosnia and Herzegovina, UK genre-defying composer Nitin Sawhney, Trinidad and Tobago’s reggae powerhouse Queen Omega, and Irish electronic pop star Róisín Murphy. New Zealand’s own The Beths will bring their catchy, introspective power-pop, while Who Shot Scott will fuse Middle Eastern sounds with hip-hop and punk rock, reflecting the diverse energy of Aotearoa’s music scene. The Veils, led by the captivating Finn Andrews, will perform a live debut of their new album Asphodel, with the talented NZTrio in tow.
But WOMAD isn’t just about the music. The Kunming Garden will host the World Of Words—a dynamic mix of poetry slams, author talks, podcasts, and comedy. Over at the STEAM Lab, nestled in a beautiful corner of Brooklands Park, curious minds can dive into thought-provoking sessions on everything from marine biology to chocolate-making, song creation, and the science of sleep—offering fresh insights and sparking creative thinking.
