The 2017 Steampunk NZ Festival is the Premier Steampunk event of the Southern Hemisphere based in the Steampunk capital, Oamaru, New Zealand, 1st - 5th June 2017.
A 4 day event with markets and music, feasting, racing of teapots, airships and duelling teacup style - and much more madness; then short story and steampunk literary readings, makers workshops, demonstrations and dancing. The highlight is the show at the Oamaru Opera House: Moments in Time, a series of short theatre pieces that tell of futures as they might have been and to top it all a Gala Ball.
MC for the main events of the weekend is the one and only Jackie Clarke, a celebrity, beautiful, witty and generally an all round fun lady who gets right into the swing of things. Milling about in the crowd will be Steampunk NZ's international ambassador Montague Jacques Fromage from Manchester Township, New Jersey, USA.
There will be a programme of workshops. What sort of workshops would you like to participate in? If anyone has a workshop they would like to lead let us know: pm Steampunk NZ Festival on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/SteampunkNZFestival/
The finest dressed, the most fantastic sci-fi accessories and the most friendly, welcoming people, all having fun in the most natural Steampunk backdrop of Oamaru's Victorian architecture. There are the festival events and then there is the rest of the Waitaki District to enjoy.
