Six60 – The New Waves World Tour in Canterbury
Dunedin-based electronic band Six60 will bring in their new waves of sound to Christchurch, Wellington, Tauranga and Auckland in January next year.
Six60 has spent much of 2017 working on their new music, recording in Auckland, London and Los Angeles alongside Printz Board who also produced the band's platinum second self-titled album that remains in the NZ top 40 charts after a staggering 128 weeks. After their latest stint in LA, the band is then headed to their homeland to showcase their brand new setlist in their 'New Waves' tour.
Six60 are teaming up with Norwegian duo Nico & Vinz, best known for their popular hits 'In Your Arms', 'That's How You Know' and their no. 1 single 'Am I Wrong'.
"New Zealand has been a market that has supported our music so strongly, so we are really excited to get down there and play in front of the fans. We saw some of the footage of Six60 tours from the past and it's exciting to think about playing in front of such a passionate incredible crowd." - Nico & Vinz
Six60 frontman Matiu Walters says the band can't wait to get back on stage. He says this tour is really 'exciting' for them because they'll be travelling across Europe supporting Nico & Vinz, before coming to New Zealand for the first time.
"We met Nico & Vinz when we were recording in their studio in LA and discovered that we've got a lot in common in what we believe about music and the way it affects and connects people, and how our music is influenced by our roots and genres like R&B." - Matiu Walters
Also joining the bill is Kiwi hip hop artist and producer Kings, who burst onto the scene last year with 'Don't Worry 'Bout It' seeing him named the 'Breakthrough Artist of the Year' at the Vodafone New Zealand Music Awards. Kings' music success garnered him four Vodafone Pacific New Zealand Music Awards which makes him the newest contender for NZ's royalty crown.
According to Matiu, the New Waves World Tour represents how music is like the tides that ebb and flow, eventually ending up on the other side of the world. "Both bands have got new parts of the world to see, and fresh music to share with our fans."
Gear up for some spine-tingling electro-rock music from Six60 this summer!
