That Bloody Woman NZ Tour

Kate’s back! 2016's smash hit musical That Bloody Woman returns to stages from 29 August to 20 October, bringing this national treasure back to life in a nationwide campaign to rock the vote for this election.

After series of sell-out seasons, Kate Sheppard played by Esther Stephens takes the show in New Plymouth, Taranaki, Hamilton, Wellington and Auckland. With Tour-Makers on her side, the tour will also be headed to Dunedin, Nelson, Napier before making a full stop in Tauranga.

Suffragist, activist and cyclist, Kate Sheppard is everyone's apple of the eye. She is transformed from the face on the $10 note into a feminist firebrand raising hell and rocking out.

"Big skirts! Ladies on bicycles! This emotional and catchy theatrical spectacular couldn't be touring at a better time. With incredible musical numbers, tongue-in-cheek asides and a Prime Minister who raps, That Bloody Woman showcases a ceiling-shattering history and asks to consider whether they have come as far as the Kiwi audience would like..."

This musical by Christchurch-born writers Luke Di Somma and Gregory Cooper premiered at the 2015 Christchurch Arts Festival with a completely sold-out season for its fiery, fresh and funny take on Sheppard's fight to give women the vote.

The rebooted production similarly earned rave reviews in Auckland as "the show New Zealand didn't know it needed." - Metro

What better time to remember New Zealand's inspiring decision to become the first country in the world to give women the vote than right now, as we head into another election year?
