Join the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra for a year of exciting music as they celebrate their 60th anniversary with music from the classical masters to modern classics.

Exult in Beethoven’s triumphant Symphony No. 3, dedicated to The Heroic in an age of heroes, be swayed by the drama and passion of Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 6, feel shivers down your spine from Hermann’s Psycho and more in the Lamb & Hayward Masterworks series, which highlights the timeless classics by the world’s most loved classical composers.

The popular Beca Artist Series is back, with internationally acclaimed violinists Shlomo Mintz and Martin Riseley taking the stage as both performers and music directors in two concerts that will traverse the music of the classical and romantic eras.

Transport yourself to the vast blue Pacific as the orchestra and award-winning Pasifika music and dance ensemble Te Vaka bring the stories and music of the region to life, including Te Vaka’s own hit songs from Disney’s Moana.

Or perhaps dance the night away in an evening of nostalgic flare featuring New Zealand’s greatest hits from the 1980s, with a cast of dazzling New Zealand artists performing some of the highlights of the era.

Conductor Luke Di Somma, composer of That Bloody Woman, takes up the baton to direct the orchestra and a troupe of star performers in a celebration of the music of Kurt Weill, taking you from the decadence of Germany’s Weimar Republic in the 1920s and 30s, to the glittering streets of New York’s Broadway.

From the 18th century to the 1980s and beyond, there’s something for everyone.
