Billy Lids - Creative Festival for Kids

Keirunga Gardens is opening up just for kids on Saturday 24 October. Book into the workshops and performances or just pop in to experience the free activities on offer.

Workshops to book include:
Art Classes:
9.00 - 11am Outer Space Art Workshop (Two separate groups - aged 5-7 yrs and 8-12 yrs)
12.00 - 2pm Arty Animals Art Workshop (Two separate groups - aged 5-7 yrs and 8-12 yrs)
3.00 -5pm Creatures of the Deep Art Workshop (Two separate groups - aged 5-7 yrs and 8-12 yrs)

Circus Workshop:

1.30 - 3.00pm 'Find your Inner Superhero'' workshop with Lizzie Tollemarche.

Theatre shows:
10am and 4pm 'Superhero Circus' from Rollicking Entertainment! A show for the whole family! 10am and 4pm. dress as your favourite superhero and come and join the fun - there will be juggling, ladder walking, escapology, magic, gross stunts and silliness.

11.30am 'Rhubarb' from Mary Kippenberger and Team! Interactive storytelling with music, costumes, reworked fairytales, laughter and lots and lots of volunteers...the stars of the show!

Over the day and evening, families will have access to free arts experiences including:

SURFACE SOUNDS • All day Campbell Burns creates interactive sound works that puts you, the viewer in the performers seat. Campbell’s works have been installed in galleries around the country. Come and check out what crazy interactive music / sound work he has in store for you in the Historic Homestead building - touching, tapping and even dancing is encouraged! STORYTELLERS COTTAGE • Hourly 9am - 3pm A new and adorable storyteller will be there to read stories every hour on the hour from 9am until 3pm! Just drop in and find a cushion! Sponsored by: The Drama Workshop

COOL & CRAZY COURTYARD • All day All day music with Aslan - have a go at singing a song or playing an instrument. Creative crafts in the courtyard. Relax with a coffee and snack. Sponsored by: The Drama Workshop and Keirunga - the creative Hub

FAIRIES DELL • All day Make a fairy/goblin from clay and found objects. Sponsored by: Hawkes Bay Youth Theatre

ARTISTS AT WORK • All day Tucked away in nooks and crannies you’ll see artists of all sorts at work - watch as they create and chat with them to find out how. Sponsored by: Keirunga - the creative hub

HOMESTEAD LAWN • All day Have a go on the paint easels. Sponsored by: Keirunga - the creative hub

YOU CAN ALSO: Enjoy a picnic on the lawn. On-site coffee and healthy, kid-centred catering from Bay Espresso will be available all day
