F.I.N.E. Festival 2022
A logo tai ua logo uta – When it is felt toward the sea, it is felt toward the land ~ Samoan proverb
F’INE embodies fanau/family and community, sense of belonging and places, journey, peoples lived experiences, cultures, languages and connections, and promotes access to opportunity and ensures that doors open to all Pasifika peoples.
Meaning of F.I.N.E;
F’ Fanau/Family; Fanau, is integral to collective aspirations for kin, it is the umbilical cord we are birthed from.
I’ Identity, the place where you stand and connect to land, ancestors, language and culture. It is you!
N’ To Navigate, your journey and to tell your story.
E’ Equality/Equity, having choice, opportunity and access to the resources needed. You are enough.
F.I.N.E Fest is a, annual event, run over a 3-day Pasifika Rainbow festival that celebrates Pasifika LGBTQI+, MVPFAFF+, Rainbow & Queer communities and is run by F’INE Pasifika Aotearoa Trust, with the support of Auckland Council and Creative New Zealand. The festival is also an extension of services that F’INE Pasifika Aotearoa Trust provide our Whanau ora customers through a performing arts service titled: Langa Fonua.
F.I.N.E Fest is a platform where members of our communities are able to develop and tell their stories creatively, while exploring their lived experiences, language, culture and identity. It is also a time where our community groups and artists are able to showcase and share their work with our wider communities and to pass on knowledge via workshops that share their craft and practices.
F.I.N.E Fest provides members of the Pasifika LGBTQI+, MVPFAFF+, Rainbow and Queer communities the opportunity to gain theatre, arts & production work experience or paid work as part of the crew that coordinates the festival.
F.I.N.E Fest is a vibrant and liberating celebration of Pasifika freedom, that honours all peoples involved, and uplifts the notion that everyone’s story is important.
The F.I.N.E Festival takes place Oct 6th – 8th 2022.
Proudly supported by F'ine Pasfika Aotearoa Trust, Creative New Zealand, Auckland Council & Auckland Pride.
