The contemporary building is 2,600m² in size situated on a 3,415m² site and incorporates library operations, archives, public toilets, meeting and community rooms, citizens advice bureau, Plunket and North Shore City Council community services.

Designed by Archoffice, the Library incorporates extensive environmentally sustainable design. It also combines WiFi, RFID, Internet and BMS technologies. The building enjoys a unique setting in the upgraded, elevated Nell Fisher Reserve and is well positioned to exploit the panoramic views from Rangitoto and Coromandel in the east to the Waitakeres in the west.
