The Chai Tea House and Juice Bar Opens in Coromandel Town January 2, 2011

The local couple was sitting back in the comfy couch at the new Chai Tea House, looking very relaxed and sipping an espresso. She said, ‘My friends told me I just had to come down and see this place and it’s so wonderful. It reminds me of a Paris café. Lovely ambience and music – a real space for people.’ The sign on the window tells of a sense of humor too – Dogs Welcome with Well-Trained Owners.

The new vegetarian tea house and juice bar that opened on January second at 24 Wharf Road, across the street from the BNZ, is a project of Sol Petersen, one of the founders of Mana Retreat at Manaia. The intention is to create a welcoming space for locals and visitors to sit and read, have a drink and a bite to eat, have access to WiFi, and also to provide some creative community activities such as live poetry and music, educational opportunities, petanque or film evenings.
