The Cotter Medical History Trust maintains 40 static public displays throughout Christchurch’s hospitals, clinics, health centres and labs. Our work room is in Hagley Hostel, a former nurses’ home on the Christchurch Hospital site.
They collect historic artefacts, photographs, books and documents relating to all aspects of health care: medical, nursing, lab, administration, etc.
A recent initiative is to acquire the Clark Microscope Collection of 150 antique microscopes in Nelson dating from the mid 18th century. The first batch of this collection is already on public display in the University of Otago, Christchurch School of Medicine ground floor foyer.
The Trust maintains a workroom work room in Hagley Hostel, a former nurses’ home on the Christchurch Hospital site. Members of the Trust are normally there from 9am to noon, Monday and Friday.
