The Edith Winstone Blackwell Centre’s goal is to inspire the public, and in particular young people’s interest in science and the life and well-being of our oceans.
Come with us on an undersea journey to explore the abundance of marine life found in the Cape Rodney to Okakari Point Marine Reserve (Goat Island) and surroundings coast. Be inspired by the work of our group of marine scientists working at the University of Auckland’s Leigh Marine Laboratory and learn how their research is bringing environment, social and economic benefits for New Zealand.
We look forward to having you visit us soon.
The centre was made possible by a generous gift from the Edith Winstone Blackwell Foundation Trust to recognize and honor the great interest the Trust’s founder, Edith Winstone Blackwell, had in the wealth, health and preservation of our marine environment and in the science of the seas.
