Karamea Area School caters for students from school entry to year 13. Karamea is one of New Zealand’s most isolated communities on the mainland. The nearest population concentration is Westport (approximately 4000) which is 100km south. By road there is only one way in and out of Karamea. It has been described as New Zealand’s most beautiful cul-de-sac. The school is situated in beautiful surroundings near the gateway to the Kahurangi National Park. Currently, we have 72 students on our roll.
