LUMEN Studios & Gallery

LUMEN Studios & Gallery is an artist-run space hosting exhibitions and workshops with a focus on creativity and wellbeing. LUMEN was founded in 2019 at the old Cheese Factory in Tataraimaka. LUMEN curates and hosts regular exhibitions showcasing artists, craftspeople and designers from the Taranaki region. Workshops and holiday programmes with a focus on creativity and wellbeing are held throughout the year. Resident artists include Teresa Goodin, Artist and Alchemist specialising in handcrafted collage and Alice Cowdrey, Textile Artist specialising in needle felting.

LUMEN is located on Surf Highway 45, 20km from New Plymouth, 6km south of Oakura and 6km north of Okato. You'll find us nestled in an idyllic valley beside the Timaru Stream surrounded by native bush and exotic gardens. The factory is a unique and popular site which hosts outdoor festivals and community events throughout the year.
