Mellons Bay School was opened in February 1960 and has come to be held in high regard by the community at large. The school motto, "Knowledge is Strength" summarises many of the aims and ideals of the school. Knowledge brings more than just facts, figures and formal know how. It is concerned with knowledge of our own capabilities - the knowledge that we can improve and develop these capabilities further at any time - the knowledge that other people have similar feelings and emotions - the knowledge that what has been done in the past, will help us today and tomorrow and to plan for the future.
