New Chums Beach (Wainuiototo Bay) was voted one of the Top 20 Beaches in the world in 2006 by The Observer, and remains a gem to those who know of it’s existence and a true discovery tour for the first time visitor.
Expectation heightens as you begin the walk of approximately 30 to 40 minutes. Wade through the lagoon at the northern end of Whangapoua Beach to the rocks, and finally onto the track leading to the saddle and your first glimpse of New Chums beach.
Large Pohutukawas and native fauna fringe the white sands of one of the last undeveloped beaches on the Coromandel Peninsula. Enjoy a leisurely walk the length of this pristine white sandy beach or the joys of searching for sea life or surfing the swells.
For some tough to trek there, even tougher to leave.
