SPA_CE first opened its doors in Cathedral Lane, December 2014. Initially the gallery exclusively showed work from artist Martin Poppelwell.
In the following years the gallery has hosted a number of artists across a range of mediums, they include Ann Shelton, Deborah Smith, Derek Henderson, Richard Brimer, Jeff Thomson, Simon Kaan, Freeman White, David Shennan, John Reynolds, Gavin Hurley and Dick Frizzell. The gallery has also introduced early career artists such as Dexter Murray, Harry Were and Emma McIntyre.
Entering its third year the gallery has a new space. It was once a mechanics garage in Napier’s Tennyson Street, Salmon Motors. The original building pre-dated the Napier earthquake in 1931 and was rebuilt in the Art Deco style.
You can find us at 116 Tennyson St, Napier (upstairs). We are open Wednesday to Saturday 10am-3pm.
