Tai Tapu Sculpture Garden and Project
Mission: To support sculpture and enhance native biodiversity in Canterbury.
Description: An evolving sculpture garden; incomplete, imperfect and impermanent; in a one hectare setting of native New Zealand bush. Since autumn 2010 over 5000 native plants have been planted. The aim is to recreate a podocarp (totara, matai, kahikatea) forest. The garden will also be a home for rare or threatened native plants of Canterbury.
Current major sculptures include works by Doug Neil and Llew Summers. A commissioned Ben Foster sculpture is due by the end of the year.
