The Charity Barn

There are a number of Charity Barns located within Christchurch, all of which are registered under the umbrella of 'The Free Shop and Paint Exchange Charitable Trust', which is marketed as a 'non denominational Christian-based charity administrated by volunteers'. The trust gives away a portion of donated goods for free and the rest are sold with the profits (less running costs) being donated to charity; in particular the trust is aligned with Mary's Meals, an international organisation that provides daily meals in schools for over 400,000 underprivileged children in Africa, Asia, Latin America and Eastern Europe. The trust also recycles paint from individuals and all the tips in Christchurch, which is then re-sold. You can read more about the trust on the Charity Barns website.
