The Wellington Study Group Rooms

Our rooms are situated in the suburb of Thorndon about 10 minutes walk from the city, 5 minutes from the railway station or buses. Parking is available during the weekends and evenings, but is limited during week-days.

Facilities

There is a large meeting room of approximately 63 square metres that can comfortably seat 50 or so and more can be accommodated if people are willing to sit on cushions. There is a piano available, a gas fire as well as electric heaters. Two French doors open onto a pleasant secluded garden. There is also a smaller room for hire which seats about 10 people.

Shared facilities include a well equipped kitchen and two bathrooms, each having a shower and toilet.

Standard Of The Venue

Our rooms are lovingly maintained and cared for and our first requirement of hirers is to respect the peace, tranquillity and special atmosphere which has been built up over time. We do not make the rooms available for parties, weddings or festivities but prefer to let to groups with aims compatible with the practice of meditation and spiritual work. We look sympathetically at yoga, tai chi, qigong and similar activities. Sometimes, during the day speech or music exams are held there, and the quiet atmosphere is very appropriate for these. We require hirers to leave the rooms as they find them, and vacuum cleaners, brooms and cleaning materials are available.

Charges

For the larger room we charge $80 for a half day or $160 for morning and afternoon. The smaller room is $50 for a half day. For shorter sessions an hourly charge applies. See website for details.
