Waikanae Juniors play most of their rugby in the Wellington Western Bays zone competition. As for the whole of the Wellington region, allocation of players to teams is governed by defined age and weight criteria.
Waikanae Juniors do play a small number of games in against Horowhenua-Kapiti sides who do not apply weight restrictions to age groups. However, the HK sides have agreed to apply the Wellington criteria to their sides for those games against Waikanae.
