This was the first winery in Marlborough when it opened in 1976. Today, its visitor facility has become a must on tourist itineraries. It features a tasteful restaurant, retail store, tasting rooms, wine education facility and even a small theatre.
The restaurant caters for those who want to enjoy two of life’s more sedate pleasures – food and wine – in a stylish atmosphere enhanced by giant river stone fireplaces. The kitchen team uses predominantly Marlborough produce to create stunning menus, designed to complement Brancott’s wines. The restaurant is open from 10.30am to 3pm every day.
Winery tours are run every half hour from 10am to 3pm daily. They give visitors the opportunity to see the first Coquard Champagne press in the southern hemisphere and the revolutionary grape tipper tanks – the first of their kind in the world. Another visitors’ favourite is the imposing cuve room, where some of Brancott’s premium red wines are fermented in oak.
Visitors who wish to buy wines can do so in the cellar door retail store, open 10am to 4.30pm.
The winery has also become a popular location for concerts, social events and weddings. The restaurant, Brancott Theatre and private tasting rooms are available for private and corporate functions and conferences.
