This screen printing workshop is suitable for all levels. All materials will be provided. The workshop will initially cover two basic screen printing methods:
- Using a cut paper stencil
- Drawing directly onto the screen with a crayon or painting on the screen using cold liquid wax
Then the workshop will focus on the “photographic process” of screen printing which uses a drawing or photograph to create a stencil, which is photocopied on to clear plastic, which is placed on to a screen which has been coated with a light sensitive emulsion. This is then exposed to a UV light and the image is developed with water.
What you need to bring to the workshop: 1. A selection of strong contrast black and white drawings and some black and white photographs. You will use these as a starting point for your print. We will be using an A4 format for our stencils and printing on cartridge paper.
