Part-human, part-bird, Pourakahua embarks on a journey of self-discovery, flying across Aotearoa to find their true home. They meet interesting friends along the way, coming to their aid while evading the dangerous bird-hunters.
Performed completely in the te reo Māori dialect of Kāi Tahu, and written by Jeffrey Addison (Kāi Tahu, Te Ātiawa), this colourful and animated production of Pourakahua will have tamariki singing and clapping while leaving you in stitches.
Pourakahua was developed from a theatrical puppet show by TORO PIKOPIKO PUPPETS, inspired by ancient rock art in Te Waipounamu and the many tribal narratives of Pourakahua.
