This is a national celebration promoting cycling as safe, sustainable and sociable; contributing to healthy bodies, healthy minds, healthy cities. The "Orange Bike Ride" is part of Dutch Week, supported by the Netherlands Embassy. But not just for Dutch people! We welcome anyone young and old to go orange and 'get on yer bike' and join in for this fun event at Avalon Park. Organise a family or friend group to ride there along the Hutt River trail or new Waterloo Beltway and be in for prizes! Relax over a drink and fine Dutch food afterwards. Heel gezellig!

Featuring:

- Free bike checks with Rebicycle/Ekerua

- Children's confidence course with Pedal Ready - up to 12 years old

- Children’s rides at bike park and other paths around Avalon Park

- Bike safety tips and cycle promo material - bike books from Kennett Bros

- 'Orange mystery trail' for all ages

- Dutch food and drink for sale from 10.30, including must-try Dutch treats from the Montfoort caravan.

- Prize draws for $200 service voucher with Revolution Bicycles, Ngaio * $75 voucher for the Dutch Shop, Petone

- Additional prizes for: * Best dressed person * Best dressed bike * Longest ride * (wear orange).

- Pre-register before 30 April to go into draw for top prizes, and to be eligible for competitions and free drink + Dutch treat.

(Registration up to 11am on the day is subject to space.)

TIMETABLE:

9.30am: Registration/confirmation of pre-registration open

10am: Confidence course open

11am: Onsite registrations for competitions closes (subject to availability)

12.15pm: Prizegiving at nearby Avalon House (Dutch club), 61 Taita Drive.

Orange Bike - Hutt Valley is part of the Dutch community's 'King's Day’ celebrations at Avalon Park. Dutch food and drink will continue for sale into the afternoon.
