For intermediate weavers, nau mai haere mai.

Welcome to the second of a series of module classes.

If you have done takiri whenu, and practiced takiri whiri and know niho tanwha you should be good to go.

If you would like to attend this wānanga to observe and practice the skills needed that is fine too. You will be able to continue working toward pīkau in future regular classes.

By attending any of the short classes in April 2023 we can refresh takiri whiri, get you making your puritanga and teach whakairo niho taniwha.

Attendees to current Ōtari Raranga classes we can get you to this point with your whakarīrā (hard work).

If you leave some takiri bundles behind during these classes, we can dye them for you. Also you can drop off.
Click the Add-on ticket for this.

CONTACT US IF THIS YOUR PLAN FOR INSTRUCTIONS OR TIMING AND COMMS.

We can harvest for you in one of the earlier April classes to prep your takiri if you're unsure of the quality of your harakeke. But please book in advance. Click the add-on ticket and let me know which session you are coming to.

IMPORTANT: WE CAN'T HARVEST FOR YOU THE DAY OF WĀNANGA AS YOUR TAKIRI WHENU NEEDS TO BE PRE-PREPARED.

Add-on tickets will go off sale a few days prior so book ahead.

You will need to come to wānanga with 60 preprepared takiri whenu at mid gauge haehae. The 18mm one. See image above. But anything similar will work.

The other image is whakairo niho taniwha.

Pre-made puritanga - a couple of metres is an advantage or bring extra rau. If you don't finish completely, you can attach the puritanga in another class.

NOTE: We require a minimum number of ticket sales for this to go ahead in our usual koha style so book ahead. Refunds will be available.

Ensure you enter your email address so that we can communicate with you all additional instructions.

Any patai (questions) email me at otarikakano4@gmail.com, hit me up on facebook or in class.

I've posted the event of FB for better size images and we can kōrero there too.

Special thanks to Wellington Communities Fund, WCC Arts and Culture Fund, Wellington Parks and Gardens and especially the Ōtari Team.

And shouts out to our sponsors Good Fortune Coffee and Wellington Apothecary.
