Experience an ecological time capsule in the hands of your guide who will share his deep knowledge of this sacred area. You will see, not one forest giant - majestic as that is - but many. Not one species of large tree, but many.

So who are we? History calls us the Pouakani people. We are the tribal landowners of this very special mountain in the centre of the North Island of New Zealand. Over the centuries it has been both our privilege and duty to guard and care for this land against intruders.
