July 20 1969, the day humans first set foot on the Moon. To celebrate this day, 50 years later, Stardome is hosting a 50 Years: Apollo 11 Open Night¸ where you’ll enjoy a ‘Moon Marathon’ of fun. Our special-edition The Moon Milestone show will screen on the hour throughout the evening at 6pm, 7pm, 8pm, 9pm & 10pm. In 360-degree immersive detail, discover the significance of the Moon, how difficult it was to get the astronauts there and the future of space exploration.
Either before or after your show, explore the Giant Leap Exhibition and walk through the 1960’s through to today, learning more about the Apollo programme, the Apollo 11 astronauts and the technology that made the fantastic feat possible.
Then, wrap up warm to head outside and gaze through the courtyard telescopes to the celestial wonders above (fingers crossed the weather behaves!)
Bookings required via online or on 09 624 1246.
Please arrive at least 15 minutes early for shows. Late entry into the planetarium is not possible once the show has started.
