What do 2019’s mayoral candidates think about Dunedin’s arts and culture sector?

Find out, raise your concerns, understand their positions, and be heard. Candidates will speak, and then the floor will be open to the public for questions.

The candidates have been sent the questions below and will be invited to speak to them for four minutes each, before the floor is opened for questions.

Have you read Ara Toi Ōtepoti – Our Creative Future and what does it mean to you?
What do you see as the main issues facing Dunedin’s arts and culture sector and what role does the DCC play in addressing them?

You’re often asked what you’re going to do to support business sector growth (and to increase parking). What will you do or advocate for to sustain the health of the arts and culture sector – with the resulting economic and social well-being return on investment.

How would you plan for the future-proofing of arts and culture infrastructure (including artistic and cultural venues, artistic organisations and artists themselves)?

What support should the city’s arts and culture institutions (including landmark festivals and events, museums, galleries, performing arts companies, the people…) that are outside of the DCC’s facilities (Toitū, DPAG, Olveston, Chinese Garden, Dunedin Centre) get from the DCC in terms of marketing and advocacy, both inside and outside the city’s boundary.

5pm for a prompt 5.30pm start.
