Speakers:
A/Prof Johanna Montgomery from the Dept of Physiology at the University of Auckland studies “Little Brains”. These are brain cells on the heart’s surface. Understanding how they work may lead to reducing prevalence of stroke and dementia.

Prof Julian Paton also works in the Dept of Physiology at the University of Auckland. He says that one in three New Zealanders have high blood pressure, which can cause stroke, kidney and heart failure. Why do some people become hypertensive and what research is key to help stop it?
