Wairoa’s natural landscape will be on show at Biodiversity Hawke’s Bay’s BioBuzz community day on 9 November.

The annual event is an opportunity for the region to celebrate achievements in the Wairoa community, as well as highlighting what more needs to be done to protect and restore our precious biodiversity.

BioBuzz is organised by the Biodiversity Guardians of Hawke’s Bay, a group of passionate people, families, and businesses who are working together to ensure Hawke’s Bay’s biodiversity is enhanced, healthy, and functioning.

“This is the second year we’ve been running this event and it’s a great way to highlight the awesome mahi going on round the region. I’m looking forward to a great community day of sharing and learning” says Kay Griffiths, Hawke’s Bay Biodiversity Guardians chair.

The event will start at Rangihoua (Pilot Hill) where Adrian Manel and Helen Jonas will talk about the biodiversity at Whakamahia Lagoon and the actions taken to support it. People will also learn a few bird watching tips, hear from Biodiversity Hawke’s Bay and Wairoa Mayor Craig Little, discover local Eco Gems, and finish the day with an Australasian bittern / matuku experience.

The event is supported by the Department of Conservation, Hawke’s Bay Regional Council, Bay Tours and Charters, Plant Hawke’s Bay, QEII Trust, and Enviroschools.
