Blood of the Flax, Toto o te Harakeke (The Copy Press, 2019) – writer Ray Caird’s first major book – honours one of New Zealand Aotearoa’s most iconic plants and its determined story of survival.

Using this insightful coffee table book as a reference point, this talk invites guests to delve into the history of flax. Ray will take them on a poetic journey from ancient Gondwanaland to the fashion catwalks of New York, reading excerpts from his book along the way.
