Buddy's Back, Club Champs & Burnout Comp

After the Classic Car and Hot Rod Show in Cromwell, what better way to end the day than getting along to Heavy Trax Hire Central Motor Speedway in Sandflat Rd (just off Highway 6 at Highlands corner) where gates open at 2pm and racing starts at 4pm.

This meeting is also your big opportunity to see for yourself the USA 17-year-old sprintcar phenomenon Buddy Kofoid (USA8) who is in the country to compete on Central Otago clay for the Civil Construction 2019 NZ Sprintcar Title on Friday, Feb 1 and Sat, Feb 2.

Buddy, who had his first sprintcar win at just 13, wowed the huge Dec 29 crowd at Heavy Trax Hire Central Motor Speedway and then at the New Year’s Day meeting had spectators gobsmacked in disbelief with a convincing win in the 20 lap feature race where he lapped lapped cars.

Last Sunday he continued his winning ways by blitzing Ruapuna. His first outing on the Canterbury track, Buddy won the feature race and smashed the 15 lap race record by 5 seconds.

This Saturday he’ll be back in Central Otago and up against NZ young guns Jamie ‘Duffman’ Duff, 18-year-old Connor Rangi and ‘t’ drivers Slammin’ Sam O’Callaghan and Jayden Dodge. You’ll kick yourself if you miss this high speed spectacle.

Saturday also includes visiting wild riding sidechairs (aka sidecars), Club Champs for all classes (six shooters, saloons/super saloons, youth ministocks, productions) and a screechin’, smokin’ Burnout Competition, a favourite with autophiles of all ages.
