About the speakers
Sir Kim Workman (Ngāti Kahungunu ki Wairarapa, Rangitāne o Wairarapa) is a central figure in the ongoing discussion of justice and prison policy in New Zealand. He has been recognised for his achievements in many ways, including by being made a Companion of the Queens Service Order, awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Literature, and named the 2018 Metlifecare Senior New Zealander of the Year.

Professor Jacinta Ruru (Raukawa, Ngāti Ranginui, Pākehā) is an award-winning Professor of Law at the University of Otago, Co-Director of Ngā Pae o te Māramatanga New Zealand’s Centre of Māori Research Excellence, fellow of the Royal Society Te Apārangi, and recipient of the New Zealand Prime Minister’s Supreme Award for Excellence in Tertiary Teaching.
