Sylvia Nissen’s new BWB Text Student Political Action in New Zealand provides rare insights into what is driving these remarkable new forms of youth¬ful political engagement and expression. Based on her acclaimed PhD research, this new book charts the transition from students being dismissed as apathetic through to the new wave of young political actors we see around us today.

About the Speakers
Sylvia Nissen is author of new BWB Text, Student Political Action in New Zealand, and contributing author to A Careful Revolution, ed. David Hall (2019). She is currently a Lecturer in Environmental Policy at Lincoln University.
Amanda Thomas (chair) is contributing author to forthcoming BWB Text, Imagining Decolonisation. She is currently a lecturer in Environmental Studies at Victoria University of Wellington, as well as an activist and researcher with think-tank, ESRA.
