If you care for the environment, and you want to help us make a big difference, come along to the CAN Beach Clean-Up Day on Sunday 15 September at 11am. This is a great community event that you can bring the whole family along to, and have some fun in the fresh air.

We will be collecting all sorts of rubbish – plastic bits, wire, fishing line… you name it, we want it off the beach and inside some black bin liners ready for local artist Susan Mabin to use, for our upcoming Art Installation ‘Beached Forest’ – wow, a double whammy; a cleaner beach for us all to enjoy and an artwork to visit too!

Please see the details below for where to meet:

Please bring some protective gloves – some items you find can be sharp. Wear something warm in case it’s cold!

CAN will provide the black bin liners.

What to do:
Check in with our volunteer at 11am, in the last car park along Marine Parade just before the Ravensdown factory, as you head away from Napier going South on SH2. They will give you a bin liner and an instruction sheet of what items we are looking for, and what to avoid. You can drop your bin liner back to the check-in station at any time before 1pm, when we will be loading up the bags to leave.

You can find out more about Beached Forest here: http://www.thecan.co.nz/can-listings/beached-forest/
